So often, we hear how students are afraid to report acts of bullying, potential acts of harm or possession of drugs, alcohol or tobacco at school. The fear of retribution is a very real thing to our students. Social acceptance is an extremely powerful motivator to avoid reporting. But, students still do want to report these behaviors because they don’t want to see their friends get hurt or harm others.
SafeOregon is a resource where students, parents or community members can inform school officials about potentially dangerous situations. Tips can be made in 5 different ways! Anyone can make a tip through a call, text, email, web portal or mobile app.
If your child feels unsafe or know someone who feels unsafe, please report it!
After the tip is made, SafeOregon sends an email to the school principal, assistant principal, and counselor. Tips may also be screened by Oregon State Police for certain crimes.
If you or your child are making a tip, please provide us with as much detail as possible. Examples include frequency of behavior, whether or not it was reported, who is causing the harm, and who the victim is and who you are. Remember, this can be anonymous.
Feel safe. Be Safe.
