Last night the Oregon Department of Education issued updated guidance to schools. There will be a shift from short-term supplemental learning to 'distance learning' that will be more substantive, graded and potentially credit-bearing education for all students.

The link to the ODE message and supplemental materials can be found HERE and you will be re-directed to the ODE website.

It will take a few days to digest the new material and work through the logistics to meet the needs of all students.  The state is requiring distance learning plans to be in place by April 13th.

The supplemental education opportunities provided before Spring Break week and being distributed this week, either electronically or in paper form, are now more important than ever.  These items are the bridge to moving forward with distance learning.

As plans are modified in this fluid situation, the most updated and concrete details will be released as soon as possible.  Most core classes are already re-tooled and ready to go in anticipation of this pivot to distance learning for all.  This is an opportunity for innovation to serve students in the best manner possible in these times of crisis.

We all acknowledge that the circumstances are not ideal, but in short time and with a bit of thoughtful planning, the district will move forward to meet the needs of all students so that they may reach their greatest potential.
