April 23, 2021 - Oregon Department of Education - Indoor / Outdoor Full Contact Sports Opt-In Form

Linked above is the plan for Siuslaw HS to meet state guidelines so that student-athletes may be able to participate in indoor activities this spring. As the health metrics in Lane County range into the High Risk zone, all athletes are required to complete a COVID-19 participation waiver as part of the registration process for basketball and wrestling this school year.

Contact Sports Opt-In Plan - For Siuslaw HS to participate in contact sports beginning February 17, 2021, the following COVID-19 management plan is posted.  On-site testing for COVID-19 is available to players and coaches that exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 during practice or contests.  In the event that an individual is confirmed as a positive test result, other persons in contact with that individual will be notified and the recommended isolation and quarantine protocols will go into effect.  Swab testing of individuals exposed to others that are positive is recommended between 5 and 7 days after exposure.  Other testing methods through medical professionals can be conducted sooner than the 5 to 7 day window, but with the long latency period of COVID-19 an isolation period of up to 14 days may still be directed by your medical professional or Lane County Public Health.

Required for participation in all sports programs during the 2020-2021 school year - COVID-19 Waiver

Summer 2020 - With COVID-19 still impacting Oregon, the following guidelines are for each sport's voluntary summer activities & workouts to mitigate the potential of the spread of infectious diseases.  As more guidance and instruction comes from the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon School Activities Association, activity plans will be updated.

2019-2020 Siuslaw High School Athletic Handbook

Please consider joining the Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club to support Athletics programs at Siuslaw High School.

The Schools of the Sky Em League, in conjunction with the Oregon School Activities Association, are committed to providing a safe and respectful atmosphere for everyone participating in and attending athletic events.

We remind you that high school athletics are an extension of the classroom, and that lessons are best learned when we show respect to everyone involved. In the past 10 years we have seen the number of high school officials decline by 35%. Officials’ number one reason for leaving the profession is the lack of respect they receive from spectators.

Siuslaw High School, along with the rest of the schools in the Sky Em League, are taking definitive action to help stem this trend. Overtly negative speech or actions will be dealt with by immediate removal from the contest. Please remember if there are no referees willing to work at our school, there will be no games at our school.

Show respect for all, understand the rules and maintain self-control. Let your good sportsmanship show and cheer for your team. Thank you.
