Siuslaw Elementary School

Siuslaw School District has two Budget Committee positions open for the school board budget process.  Positions 2 and 4 are open for appointment by the school board. Apply by September 11, 2023, by 5 p.m. The Budget Committee includes the Board of Directors and seven volunteer citizens who are appointed to serve 3-year terms. Committee members must be registered voters living within the boundaries of the Siuslaw School District and cannot be employees, officers, or agents of the district. Budget meetings will take place in April and May 2024. The school board will consider applications at the September 13, 2023 school board meeting. On-site school enrollment & registration is this Tuesday-Thursday at school buildings, from 9am to 3pm. Additional information on enrollment & registration is on the school websites on the School Enrollment Information page. Students in grades 6-12 that did not forecast for classes in the spring should see a school counselor to select elective classes. High school students can also select their locker and pick up their Chromebook. The2023-2024 Student School Year calendar is linked on the front page of each school website.

Siuslaw 97J – Summer Food Service Free breakfast and lunch for youth in the community is available at the locations below. Summer Food Service is available Monday to Friday, except July 3rd & 4th for Independence Day. The Summer Food Service program runs through August 25, 2023. Siuslaw Middle School will be hosting an Open House for all incoming 6th grade students for the 2023-2024 school year! The Open House will be next Wednesday, June 7th from 5-7 p.m. There will be a scavenger hunt to help guide you around the building to meet teachers and find electives. Your student(s) will have an opportunity to practice opening lockers for a sweet surprise inside! Turn your completed scavenger hunt ticket for a chance to win a Siuslaw Vikings t-shirt. A regular public meeting of the Siuslaw School District 97J Board of Directors will be held on March 8, 2023 at 6:30pm at the Siuslaw School District Office. The public is welcome to attend. An Special Meeting/Work-Session beginning at 5:30pm will start with an executive session. The executive session portion of the Special Meeting/Work-Session is closed to the public. The public will be welcomed in the meeting at the conclusion of the executive session. The regular meeting start time is 6:30pm. Greetings Parents & Caregivers of Siuslaw students, Registration is now OPEN for the Youth Accidental Overdose Prevention event! If you previously filled out the interest survey, you will receive a personalized link to complete your registration. The Center on Parenting and Opioids in partnership with Lane County Public Health, University of Oregon Substance Abuse Prevention & Education and other community partners will share resources and education awareness in Spanish and English to help Lane County parents, guardians, and youth feel confident in preventing accidental overdose among youth. The event will occur in-person at Straub Hall at University of Oregon and virtually on November 17th, 5:45 - 7:30pm. A flyer is attached with more details about the event. Here in Florence, we will live-stream the event at Siuslaw Middle School in the Commons; a Spanish language live-stream will be broadcast in the choir room.
