The Siuslaw School District has become aware today of troubling posts that have been shared widely around the country on the social media platform, TikTok. The posts refer to a threat to school safety for “every school in the United States” on Friday, December 17th. There have been NO threats to any Siuslaw schools. The post appears to be part of a national TikTok trend that did not originate in our school district, or even in Oregon.
There will be a 2-Hour late start today, Tuesday, December 14th.

On Monday, October 11 (second Monday in October) we celebrate the history and contributions of Native Americans on Indigenous Peoples' Day. Native people continue to fight to maintain the integrity and viability of indigenous societies. American Indian history is one of cultural persistence, creative adaptation, renewal, and resilience. Siuslaw School District appreciates the picture provided by the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians (ctclusi.org) of a local "Canoe Journey at Sunrise" that was incorporated into this posting. We encourage you to visit the Abundance StoryMap on their website, which gives voice to their stories, culture, and enrichment of public school curriculum in Oregon.
