The first draft of the 2019-20 School Year calendar is up on the district website. It is the first page link under the menu and includes an optional survey, with commentary. Next action by the School Board will be March 13th.

Thank you to all who came out today for the dedication of our new flag pole and flag. A special thanks to the VFW for purchasing the set up and for the wonderful Honor Guard ceremony today.

This Friday we will be holding two flag dedication ceremonies at SES. We will be hosting a standard honor guard that includes ceremonial rifles. This is an exception to our policies on weapons at school. Parents can contact teachers to have their students opt-out.

Regular Schedules - All Buildings
February 6th, 2019 - No Weather Delays
Welcome to the Siuslaw School District
GO VIKINGS!

February 6th - Regular schedules & start times for all schools today, no weather delays for busses. With some possible 'slick spots' remaining from yesterday off of the main roads, stay safe on your morning drive.

We are running a two hour delay today, February 5th, 2019. Classes begin at 10:35. We will have a quick breakfast beginning at 10:00. Lunch schedules will all remain the same.

If you family is anything like mine, the school lunch menu weighs heavily on kids minds. With that in mind I need to announce a change to the menu this week.
Due to all SES students attending the Winter Music Festival at the Florence Events Center on Thursday January 24th, we need to switch the Wednesday and Thursday menu.
Hot Dogs will now be served on Thursday and nachos moves to Wednesday.

The Florence Community PTA does so many great things in our schools. If you are not a member, please, see below to help support our PTA: http://www.florencepta.org/online_membership_form.aspx
or, to print: http://florencepta.org/2018-19%20Membership%20Form.docx

A HUGE thanks to the VFW for our new flag and flag pole.
We finally have a patriotic display right near the entry of our school. It's great to see "Old Glory" waving on a breezy day.

SES Families- Teachers report back tomorrow to work on a new technology initiative and revising student report cards.
We look forward to having students back Tuesday the 8th.
Mr. H

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!
Enjoy the last week of break. We'll see students back on Tuesday, January 8th.

Special 'thank you' to City of Florence Public Works, Lane County Public Works, CLPUD & ODOT for helping to make travel to school as safe as possible today. Plenty of people in fluorescent yellow & orange out early braving the rain and wind!

Toys for Tots is going on right now until 4:00 at the Siuslaw Valley Fire Station.

2 Hour Late Start for Tuesday 12/18/18 - The wind overnight has left debris on the roadways that the work crews are clearing now. Parents if it is unsafe to travel at your home, please err on the side of caution and keep your children at home. (repost of 544am)

For Parents & Guardians that did not have time to complete the ODE survey on Chronic Absenteeism during conferences, the survey link will be open on the district website main page under the menu as 'Conference Attendance Survey Link' thru the end of the month. Thanks!

Tomorrow is the PTA "Breakfast With Santa" at Crossroads Church $10 for adults and $5 for kids. We hope to see you there.

Parents, we would love your help with a survey about school/district attendance policies. You'll have an opportunity at conferences or you can follow the link here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Attend_ParentsGuardians Mr. H

Reminder: Parent-Teacher Conferences are November 19th, 20th and 21st. Dismissal time on Tuesday, November 20th is 12:20 and there is no school on Wednesday the 21st. Most conferences will be handled within this window although a handful of conferences will be scheduled at alternate times.

SES families,
Just a reminder that we ask students not to wear Halloween costumes to school on Wednesday. Instead, wear Halloween colors as part of our Red Ribbon Week celebrations.
