Internet Subsidy for Comprehensive Distance and/or Hybrid Learning modes

Program Overview – 2020-2021 School Year

Students and families in need of internet service connection assistance for Comprehensive Distance Learning and or Hybrid Learning models may qualify for an LTE Hotspot or a subsidy of the cost of the internet service connection in your home.

The internet subsidy eligibility is needs based and factors in household income, household size, and public assistance eligibility; an income matrix is provided with the application.

Students and Families

  • If you already have an internet service connection in your home, you will need a copy of your most recent billing statement.
  • If you have had an internet service connection in your home, but the service was disconnected for some reason, please have a copy of the most recent statement showing any balance due.
  • If you do not have internet service in your home currently, do you know if –
    • Does your home location have access to a wireless cellphone (LTE) signal?
      • If so, a district-provided hot-spot may be an option
    • What other broadband services or providers are available to your home location?
      • Fiber optic, broad band cable, or satellite service may be options

The Internet Subsidy Assistance Program is needs based, as both income and household size are considered.  There are three tiers of reimbursement available based upon the following matrix - 

District Staff

  • Siuslaw School District staff that have children enrolled in school, you may make an application as a family of a student within the district.
  • Siuslaw School District staff that must work from home due to medical or childcare considerations, you may make an application based upon income level and number of persons in the home without a student enrolled in the district.
  • Siuslaw School District staff that can do internet-based instruction work from campus, and are without other medical or childcare considerations, may qualify for a lesser home internet subsidy (50% of value of those that must work from home for medical or childcare considerations).
