SHS students placed first in the OBOB regional competion. They move on to State April 13.

Students from Siuslaw High School won the regional competition in OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books), a contest that has students reading a dozen books, then being quizzed on what they remember about the books in two categories: in which book did something happen and small details that happened in a specific book.

OBOB’s mission is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, to promote academic excellence, and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students.

This year's SHS team members are Abby Jones, Seamus Burke, Storm Kurth, Berkley Tregoning, and Kamorah Lake with coaches Melanie Goeddel and Kelly Joslin. Congratulations to the team! Now onto the state competition in Salem at Chemeketa College on April 13.
